Fazit und Appell

Ich denke, dass die Situation für Caretta Caretta in Cirali in der Saison 2012 ausreichend beschrieben ist und beende den Bericht.
I think the situation for caretta caretta in the 2012 season is described sufficiantly and I end my report.

Vor Ort gibt es Menschen wie Bayram, Mustafa und Tuncay, die neue Nester markieren und betreuen. Sie leisten sehr gute Arbeit mit sehr hohem persönlichen Einsatz. Die geltenden Schutzbestimmungen für das ausgewiesene Schutzgebiet, wie das nächtliche Aufenthaltsverbot am Strand, die Verbote über Wassersportaktivitäten und Schnellboote und die Regelungen gegen künstliche Beleuchtung in Standnähe, können sie aber nicht durchsetzen. Das kann nur der  türkische Staat mit seinen Ordnungsbehörden. Es ist ihre Aufgabe, aber sie erledigen sie nicht! Es wird geunkt, das läge an Interessen von mächtigen Geschäftleuten, mit Verbindungen bis in höchste Regierungskreise. Die wollten den Ort übernehmen um große Hotels zu bauen und Caretta Caretta wäre ihnen dabei nur im Weg. Das Ergebnis solcher Investitionen kann man an vielen Stränden der Türkei und Anderswo sehen, wo Naturschutz und gute Sitten schon lange dahin sind. 

On site there are people like Bayram, Mustafa and Tuncay, who mark and supervise new nests. They are doing a very good job with high personal effort.
What they can not do, is to enforce the applicable regulations for the protection of caretta caretta, like the nighly ban on staying at the beach, the ban of watersport activities and speed boats and the forbbidance of artificial lighting in vicinity of the beach. This is the job of the turkish authorities, but they don't do it. Some people say, it's because of interests of big investors with relation to the highest government officials. They would want to take over the place to build big hotels and caretta caretta is only a obstacle in these plans. The result of investements like these can be seen at many beaches in turkey and elsewhere, where nature preservation and good morality have been lost for long.

Hier hat der türkische Staat hart durchgegriffen. Die Baugenehmigung dieser Pension in Cirali war angeblich nicht in Ordnung. Vielleicht war sie aber auch nur größeren Projekten im Wege?
In this case the turkish authorities have taken drastic measures. This guesthouse in Cirali was allegedly not auhorized. Maybe it was just in the way of bigger projects?

Wenn geltenden Bestimmungen zum Schutz von Caretta Caretta nicht konsequent weiterverfolgt werden, wird nach vielen Millionen Jahren ihr letztes Jahrhundert gekommen sein. An den wenigen anderen verbliebenen Niststränden in der Türkei und Anderswo sieht es nicht besser aus. Ebensowenig für das Schicksals der andernen Meeresschildkrötenarten.
If the existant regulations for the protection of caretta caretta are not implemented consitantly, after millions of years this will be teir last century.
At the few other remaining nesting beaches in turkey and elsewhere, the situation is not better. Same for the destiny of other species of sea turtles.

Appell an WWF und andere Naturschutzorganisationen
Ihr habt hier in den letzten Jahren gute Arbeit geleistet. Kommt zurück! Für solche Projekte erhaltet ihr eure Spenden und nicht für den "Earth day". Ihr habt einen Preis für "nachhaltige Entwicklung" für dieses Projekt erhalten. Eure Hilfe wird jetzt dringend gebraucht um Caretta Caretta for dem Aussterben zu bewahren und das Projekt zu retten. Wenn ihr es hier nicht schafft, dann auch nicht anderwo. Ohne starke Hilfe wird Caretta Caretta aussterben.

Ihr Journalisten, verbindet das Angenehme mit dem Nützlichen solange es noch geht. Kommt 2013 während der Schildkrötensaison nach Cirali, am besten Ende Juli, wenn sich die Perioden der Eiablage und des Ausschlüpfens von Caretta Caretta überschneiden. Geht einfach morgens um 6 an den Strand und seht selbst. Vielen Dank für ihre Aufmerksamkeit.

Plea for help to the WWF and other enviromental organisations
You have done a good job here for many years. Come back! For projects like these you receive donations from private persons, not for the "earth day".  You have received a price for sustainable developement for this project. Your help is now needed urgendly to save caretta caretta from extinction and to keep the project going. If you don' achieve it here, you won't elsewhere. Without your help Caretta caretta will become extinct.
You journalists, combine the pleasant with the useful tasks as long as it is still possible. Come here in 2013 during turtle season, best end of july, when the periods of ovulation and hatching overlap. Just go to the beach at 6 in the morning and see for yourself. Thank you for your attention.
